Mary Kelly is a Boston and Washington, D.C. based performer, choreographer, and music director. Mary is a senior at the Catholic University of America pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Musical Theatre with a minor in Dance. In her time at CUA, she has taken education and music ed classes that have shaped her technique and philosophy when it comes to teaching music, dance, and theatre. Mary believes that music, dance and theatre education is ultimately education for the whole person: mind, body, and soul. Mary has trained in numerous dance styles spanning jazz, tap, and ballet, to musical theatre dance, street jazz, and contemporary/modern. Beyond dance, Mary is also a classically trained pianist and violinist, a skill that continues to enrich her musical pursuits. Mary’s involvement at Spotlight began when she started taking voice lessons with Kristy as a junior in high school. Since then she has helped run several Spotlight summer camps, performed as Serena/u.s. Elle in Spotlight’s production of Legally Blonde, and choreographed Annie Kids and Seussical Kids alongside her sister Caroline. Additional choreographic and music direction endeavors include choreographing “The Eras Tour (CenterStage’s Version) at the Catholic University of America, music directing Seussical Kids at Spotlight, and she will be music directing Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812 in January 2025. Mary is over the moon to be a part of this amazing team and looks forward to creating art with the Spotlight family!
