Sofie Lopes
voice, piano, guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar, double bass, flute, saxophone
Sofie Lopes is currently a senior in Bridgewater State University’s Music Education program, with a focus in Classical Voice. She doubles as a Pre-Music Therapy major as well as having a minor in the Portuguese Language, which she is fluent in. Sofie is never far from a musical state of mind, connecting her Portuguese roots into her craft as well as focusing on the importance of mental and physical health through the creation, playing, and implementation of music. Before BSU, Sofie played electric bass in cover bands and continues to be a respected and highly appraised fill in for gigs. While being a part of these cover bands she also spent time in an original band where she aided in the writing of singles and a fully produced album. On top of all of this, Sofie spent time in winter and summer school of rock programs where she not only played but set an example for bass players in and out of the program. Here, she realized that becoming a music educator was her passion as she began taking the role of a teacher’s assistant as she reached the end of her high school career. Upon entering BSU she found herself in an acoustic duo, playing bars in both the New Bedford and Milford area. As an educator Sofie has completed brass, woodwind, string, piano, and percussion pedagogy courses making her a well rounded educator in all things music.
